Amazon launched Bee Frontier in the United States on October 15. The $74.99 wearable records conversations and turns them into summaries and reminders. A second device, the magnetic Bee Eclipse, is listed as coming soon from $99.99.

The hardware price is only part of the cost: many of Bee's connected features require a monthly subscription.

What the price buys

Frontier can be worn on the wrist or clipped to clothing. Eclipse attaches magnetically to a phone. Amazon says both devices can turn conversations into notes, reminders and suggested actions.

  • Free tier: Basic summaries, recaps and 14 days of memory.
  • Bee Pro: $11.99 a month, with a 30-day free trial for new Bee customers.
  • Annual cost: Bee Pro totals $143.88 for 12 months at the listed rate, before taxes or promotions.

Amazon says Bee Pro adds unlimited recent summaries, suggested to-dos, daily memories, a personal chat assistant, conversation templates and a desktop app. Alexa+ and Amazon shopping connections, along with third-party app integrations, also require the plan.

Amazon says Frontier is available through Amazon.com. It has not given Eclipse a launch date.

Audio deletion is Amazon's claim

Amazon says Bee processes audio in real time and deletes it rather than storing it. Users start and stop recording with a button, and an indicator light shows when recording is active. The company also says participants on calls are prompted to give permission when recording begins.

Transcripts and summaries are different: Amazon says users can keep them in Bee and delete them. So the audio may be deleted while a written record remains, depending on what the user keeps.

TechRadar noted that recording conversations and linking them to shopping features raise practical questions about consent and product recommendations based on casual conversation. Amazon's privacy assurances are company claims, not independent test results.

The choice for buyers is whether basic summaries and two weeks of memory are enough, or whether the paid integrations are worth an ongoing fee. The $74.99 starting price does not include the full cost of a year of Bee Pro.
