Gemini 4 Argon Can Handle Errands, but Google Locks It Behind Paid Plans
Google says Gemini 4 Argon can shop and book across more than 40 connected apps, but access is limited to Pro and Ultra subscribers.
Google brought Gemini 4 Argon to its Gemini app on October 13, 2026, with a task mode designed to work across connected apps. Google says it can help with errands such as grocery orders and restaurant bookings. Access to Argon and the new tasks is limited to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
The shift is from answering prompts to attempting tasks across services. Google says Gemini connects to more than 40 apps, including:
- Instacart
- OpenTable
- Adobe
- Shopify
Google’s announcement describes the features, but does not establish that every task or app connection works in every region.
The practical dividing line is clear: the new Gemini tasks require a paid plan, while the announcement leaves their regional availability and reliability unconfirmed.
What subscribers can do
Users can switch from chat to tasks in the Gemini app. Google says Gemini can work across its own apps and connected services, including shopping and bookings. It can also continue working while the user is away from the computer.
The announcement does not give pricing for the new features or a country-by-country rollout. Google lists a Pro or Ultra subscription as the access requirement. It did not publish independent test results, so the range and reliability of completed tasks remain to be assessed.
Antigravity has a higher access bar
Google also added its Antigravity coding interface to the Gemini app for macOS, bringing coding tools into the same desktop app. 9to5Google reports that Antigravity access requires AI Ultra, even though Argon and the new task features are available to both Pro and Ultra subscribers.
A Pro plan does not unlock every related tool. For people weighing an upgrade, the unanswered practical question is whether delegated tasks save enough time to justify the subscription, and how much checking their results still require.
