GPT-6 Starts Turning ChatGPT Answers Into Tools, Free Access Set for October 8
OpenAI’s Intelligent UI turns some ChatGPT replies into usable charts and tools. Here’s who gets access first and when the free rollout begins.
OpenAI began rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI on October 7. The feature can turn some ChatGPT answers into interactive charts, diagrams and tools. The global rollout starts with Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users. Free and Go access is scheduled to begin October 8.
From an answer to something you can use
OpenAI says Intelligent UI can combine text with interactive elements. Examples include calculators, bill splitters, diagrams and games. ChatGPT chooses a format based on the question.
That could help when a task needs more than an explanation. For example, someone splitting a bill might be able to adjust the figures in a tool instead of recalculating each person’s share. OpenAI also describes interactive explanations that let users change inputs and see how the result changes.
The shift is from answers that explain a task to responses that can include a tool for working through it.
Who gets access, and when
- October 7: Global rollout begins for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users.
- October 8: Rollout is scheduled to expand to Free and Go users.
- Enterprise: Access depends on workspace administrator settings.
OpenAI says the feature applies to ChatGPT’s Chat experience. The models powering Work and Codex are not changing as part of this release. The company has not announced a separate price for Intelligent UI.
What the examples show
OpenAI says GPT-6 can decide when visuals or interactive components are useful and when plain text is a better fit. The feature changes what a chatbot response can contain: not just an explanation, but a small tool built around a question.
TechCrunch reported seeing a demonstration with generated diagrams and visuals. Those examples illustrate the intended experience, but they do not independently establish how well the feature performs across everyday use.
